Developed by Bill Acton, colleagues and students since 2008

Snapshot of HaPT, version 4.5 (no longer available)

  • Teaches just the basics of pronunciation, the essentials.

  • Key sounds and pronunciation techniques are taught using touch and gesture (on video or “live” in class,)

  • Used regularly in class and in homework so what is taught is learned and integrated into speaking and conversation.

  • The videos can do the basic teaching or you can teach them, yourself.

  • Little or no previous training in phonetics required.

  • Easily adapted for students of any age or English ability

  • Uses touch and movement to enhance learning and recall of new pronunciation and vocabulary and encourage fluent, confident speaking.

  • In-class, regular correction of pronunciation is easier

  • Regular practice (in class and out of class) is essential.

  • Homework assignments for all modules are provided.
